DAiLY SToRY...

I'm Graduating!
Class of 2009...

HEY YOUNG WORLD!!! Today in school I found out I am graduating which SUCH a relief! I honestly thought that I wasn't going to be able to graduate because my attendance this year was SO horrible and if you have bad attendance you CAN NOT graduate BUT luckily I made it and I am SO thankful to God that he has bought me thus far. LOL my friends were like "Yo Antwan sit down before you past out" and if you were in my shoes yo you would have felt the same. The Teachers had a list and if your name was on that list you had to leave Senior homeroom and go find out why you are not graduating. Simply put...this was the day you did NOT want your name to be called because if it did it was like the horrible END to a LONG and TIRING year. My heart was racing the WHOLE time and just the waiting part was hard enough. My friends though I tell you, they are the BEST friends in the whole world honestly and I am SO glad that I went through my Senior year with great people like them. They comforted me in such a rare time of need and I thank them SO much for their help. We all was hype when they didn't call my name lol and I'm still befuddled about the fact that I am graduating. Can't wait to see what the real world has in store and can't wait to take life by the hair and conquer all!

The Daily Artist Spotlight...

Today's Daily Artist Spotlight comes from one of my FAVORITE singers from my collection of favorite unknown singers who WON'T be unknown for long. Today's artist is a pretty, petite and dainty little songbird with a voice as strong as an eagles call so i guess little songbird wouldn't be a way to describe her because babygirl got chops. Without further or do Young World here she is....Introducing....SUAI!!!! YAY...CLAP CLAP!!! haha Now Suai, pronounced like Sway, is new on the scene and I discovered her when I was flipping through a magazine. Now everytime I kept on dropping the magazine it KEPT popping open to the page of NEW STARS TO WATCH and Suai was one of them. Her whole look just stood out from the rest of the other wannabe popstars and her name gave her a different appeal then the other already popstars out here in the game now. So I took her name down and went home and googled her and I found her website, myspace and some other informational sites about who she is and where she comes from and all. I found some tracks of hers online and once I heard the first line to her popular online song, "OH SNAP!" i was like OH SNAP!!! lol She really had me hooked on what she was saying lyric for lyric, word for word, harmony for harmony. She was just THAT good! On "OH Snap!", Suai sings about meeting a guy that she thought would ONLY be her friend UNTIL all of a sudden and out of the blue she starts catching feelings for him and realizes that she maybe, just MAYBE might be in love. It's a really catchy song and VERY relateable and I think anyone who has a Love Jones that wasn't supposed to happen can relate. Another great song of hers that is pretty popular online is the song entitled "Am I Alone?" On "Am I Alone" Suai SANGS about the MANY oppurtunities at a better life we have today going bad with people killing each other, mothers and fathers not raising their kids properly and children in places in the world who have no food to eat or shelter to hide from the rain. It is a VERY touching song and I think is the REALIST song since Mary J. Bliges "No More Drama". At the end of Am I Alone you hear our NOW president Mr. Barack Obama speaking and saying that in order to last as a nation and to have piece on earth we MUST sacrifice ourselves for each other, "All for One and One for All", which is so true. To get more if an insight about Suai here is a short bio that she gave to her fans via Myspace.....

i've been interested in music since i was a really little girl. mom is a singer/songwriter/musician and kinda gave me a gentle nudging towards music when
i was about 3 years old.we'd sing songs in the bathroom in front of the mirror (for acoustic purposes of course). about
11 years later i wrote my first songin our living room, it was called...ummmm...wow, i really can't remember. it was good tho!! shortly thereafter, partly because of the great response to my songs and partly because i loathed high school,
i decided to dedicate myself completely to music!! i even picked up the guitar and wrote a few folky tunes (hopefully they'll be revisited someday). i made it through high school, recorded a demo and started shopping around for a record deal.
after i signed with Motowni thought things were gonna change overnight....not!! 3 years later i'm
working at Starbucksand still living at home. the time has been good for me though. i've recorded an AMAZING album, performed in more than a few cities, including my own, and i've
developed a strong sense of the kind of artist i want to be...something i wasn't totally sure of a few years back....so yeah, about the music..
"suai, when i buy your album, what can i expect?"you can expect awesomenesstivity!! no seriously, if you love music, you'll love this album. it's all the things you love about music right now, used to love and will love in the future all packaged up together for your listening pleasure! every song has it's own individual vibe but the glue that holds it all together is...well...me.
"who have you worked with?"everybody and their mamas too!! lol, i've been recording for almost 3 years. i've been all over the map collaborating with a ton of producers and writers. but you're lookin for names, right? ok, here ya go: Linda Perry, Akon, Dre & Vidal, Carvin & Ivan, Dallas Austin, B. Cox, Polow (da don, lol), Ne-yo, Neffu, Harold Lilly, Madd Scientist, Claude Kelly and Jevon "Duvall" Hill to name a few.. oh and yours truly did some production work too!! (don't believe me? check the credits..)
"what's the album called? and when is it droppin'?!?!"we've got a few working titles and it's droppin' soon!!!
"should i bootleg? or buy?"omg, BUY!! if you bootleg, you won't get to read my liner notes, see pictures or have a firm plastic surface to fill out your bank deposit slips on. also, i won't be able to have a huge tour and create jobs by hiring a huge crew...then that huge crew won't have money to recycle back into the economy. so you see, it's imperative that you BUY MY ALBUM!
"ok, i'm sold! where can i see you perform?"well, i'm glad you asked. i've got a bunch of videos on youtube (youtube.com/eighty8kees) and i post all of my upcoming performances on my official website (suaionline.com). i hope to see you at a show!! thanks for checkin me out! love ya! be blessed! s.

xoxo

*So there Ya Have it Young World!! Another great voice of the future. I am hoping to hear BIG things from Ms. Suai and I HOPE that she does not get overshadowed by these no singing wannabe popstars out now. I'm praying for her lol. SO SERIOUS!!! To find out more about Suai just visit her OFFICIAL Myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/suai or http://www.twitter.com/suai OR http://www.suaionline.com. You won't regret your research on this GREAT artist....

iConquer Daily....

Hey YOUNG WORLD!!! Today's post is a NEW one you will see floating around the blog now and I got the inspiration from it when I was just sitting in my room one day and I was all types of sad because I was upset about the fact that I was graduating in a week. Not knowing that reality would hit me dead in my face as fast as it did I realized, why am I sad? I went through 4 great years at a Semi-GREAT school and I met some GREAT people along the way. Aside from that I also got involved in some great activities and clubs and I graduated with awards and honors to my name I NEVER thought I would get when I was a freshmen starting out. So as I write to you Young World I must say that you should never let fear hold you back because at the end of the day it is ONLY the Devil saying that you can't do more then you know you can. So the first iConquer for the day will be iConquer...Fear and Negative Outlets Saying that I Can't or that I Won't because at the end of the day iCAN!! Now that VERY same pic you see of Muhammad Ali is the same one I have on my wall and he was my inspiration in the past to push forward past the walls of the box people try to out me in and keep me out and this time I had to push past the box that I put myself in and tried to keep myself out. I realized that life is all about changes and if you fear to change now then you'll always be the same old person with the same old things that life has given you in the past. You gotta conquer fear and let it know that you aren't going ANYWHERE until it moves out your way and that's the truth!!

*If you guys have ANY iConquer's that you feel you are VERY proud about and thought you'd never do in a million years then get them off your chest and hit me up on my Myspace at http://www.myspace.com/datboitwane with your name, age and short story of what your iConquer may be...look forward to hearing from ya.....

Daily Music Buzz...

HEY YOUNG WORLD!!! So today in the crazy world called the Music Industry, ALOT has been going down. Now a few posts are recent and a few are past due because of the fact that I've been lazy posting DAILY like I SHOULD!!! Bad Me i know, but nonetheless if you haven't heard any of the news I am posting then GREAT because I really tried my best to give them to you guys on time before they OFFICIALLY turned into old news and IF you have read some of these posts already then ACT like it's new news and read it AGAIN!!! haha enjoy....

Last week 3 music videos were finally premiered after much buzz around the singles released. Now the first video comes from our ol' home girl Amerie. Last week on Tuesday, June 9 she came to BET's 106 & Park and premiered her video for her new single which is entitled Why R U and it will be included on her new album which is entitled In Love And War, but I honestly thought she was planning to change the title of the album...?? IDK. The video for Why R U can be described more along the lines of a performance video and but of course it shows the beautiful Amerie frolocking around dancing, singing, and sporting high fashion just like the rest of the performance videos do to make the video look interesting. I was kind of disappointed because I kind of envisioned a old school feel to the video since the song sounds like an old school throwback from the 90's but I was COMPLETELY let down to find her just stand there in front of various walls. But even though my vision didn't come through with the video I MUST say that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be though because TRUST me i seen WORSE. My only hope for the rest of Amerie's career is that she doesn't EVER try that good girl gone bad image again like she did in Touch because it just wasn't working for our ol' girl. Be sure to pick up a copy of In Love & War when it comes out sometime in mid-summer. I have heard a few leaked tracks from the album and I must say that she definately has taken a TREMENDOUS turn away from the formula she used on Because I Love It. The best leaked song that I have heard so far would have to be Dear John. She coo's and sangs over a smooth mid-tempo beat about how she is writting a Dear John letter to her bf who goes by the name of John, coincidence?, and she is letting him know that EVEN THOUGH he may have THOUGHT he broke her heart, in the end she is stronger and WILL find better even though he told her she wouldn't. Very proud of the girl Amerie...expecting BIG things from her....

The NEXT video comes from our girl Jordin Sparks, who just revealed her album cover for her upcoming cd, Battlefield due out July 21, 2009, last Monday, June 8. I didn't even KNOW she had a video out until I flipped on the tv one day and caught the ending of it so if you guys haven't found out and are surprised then believe me you are just as shocked as I am because I was like what?!? When did this happen?! She just gave a sneak preview of it the other day! But the video must have premiered last Monday OR the Friday before last Monday, which was June 5. Now the video in my opinion is a TOTAL fail because I expected more from a video with the title of Battlefield and with such a heavy guitar driven sound on the chorus, I just feel Jordin gave nothing but a rushed performance just to catch up with a climbing single and anticipating album. When I saw the sneak peak of the video I was REALLY digging the little bit I saw because I thought that she was gonna lay in the field after she got out the car and imagine she was in a actual battlefield with explosions and fire and etc. Now I KNOW we are in an economic chrisis BUT DOES THAT MEAN that the videos have to look like what they are...low-budget?? Who knows if this video was low-budget but it definately was a boring mess. But regardless of a rushed video i WILL still support Jordin because in my opinion she is one of the few good girls that we have around the industry who know how to keep their goodies ACTUALLY locked in the jar so yeah...love Ms. Jordin Sparks!

The Last video comes from the Bad Girl of Bad Boy Entertainment herself, Cassie!! Cassie's video for her new single, Must Be Love, premiered last Friday, June 12 and I must say that it was VERY abrupt due to the fact that she has no buzz on the radio about the single NOR does she have much promo going around about her album so I was kind of curious and mad as to why Cassie would do this because a few months back I recall her saying that THIS time around she was gonna give an album NO ONE forgot....they weren't he EXACT words BUT that's what she might as well had said with how she was talking. Now the video I MUST say was the pretty good and it was kind of a throwback of what the videos used to look like back in the early 2000's or late 90's. Even though the video had a different vibe from the rest that were out I felt that the concept was missing but GO FIGURE so is the concept in other videos. Cassie has a cameo by Diddy all up and throughout the video and yes people, he is just being the regular Diddy we know....trying to rap and TRYING to show off his "swag"...?? IDK, but he is also the love interest in the video which I think is ironic because OF COURSE we ALL know that they are together behind closed doors, but i honestly think they should of had Diddy at a bar or something in his own location with his own love interest and Cassie in her room with the guy she likes in the other and them just vibing off each other's presence between the walls. And if you want to know what I am talking about when I say in between the walls you will see when you watch the video because the whole thing is shot with the two of them being in seperate rooms and one single wall dividing them. Also Cassie's new haircut she got really messes up the video's vibe because the song is SO old school R&B with a feel good vibe to it and she has the look of an Rolling Stones fan WTF?!?...not a good match!! BUT i will say the ending is pretty sick with the furniture and piano setting itself on fire. I think that was SO sexy and dope at the same time so Cassie DEFINATELY gets brownie points for that. If you are a fan of Cassie's then you can check Cassie's new album, Electro Love, in stores sometime mid-summer or late this year...

BUT Moving On To Other News In The Music World.........

Today via his Twitter page Monday morning, ATL photgrapher, Derek Blanks, premiered some new and VERY eye-catching images of our girl Ms. Fantasia for some promo. No word on what the images could be for BUT hopefully they are for her new album expected out sometime late this year. I must say Ms. Fantasia is bringing it in these pics and definately looks like wifey type in that Red-Satin dress. But the one pic with her in the bow-tie is too reminascent of Janelle Monae's style and I feel NOBODY can rock it the right way BUT her, but I'd still marry Fantasia if she asked lol. Fantasia will be going on a major city tour of the Color Purple and will touch the stages of city's in Washington, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, of coarse, and personally i'm HOPING Philadelphia because i'd REALLY like to take my Mama with me to see what all the buzz is about with this play...since 2006 it's been highly talked about!! Gotta see it before my time runs out ya know?? Enjoy the pics....

Also Today MTV VJ and the Famous wife of Nuggets basketball player Carmelo Anthony, LaLa Vasquez, posted via her Twitter her new haircut she will be sporting. If you seen the "famous" cut that Cassie got and jocked then you will know what cut I am talking about. She posted on her Twitter page "Yes, Cassie made this cut famous now I'm just putting the LaLa Remix onto it. Who will be next in the movement??....It just feels good to let go." Yea....okay?? Pretty interesting...Now my question is why the HELL did she do that to that gorgeous head?? I bet Cassie felt stupid for shaving her head and it being a failure so she probably called up everybody she knew to help her out to make it something stylish to be worn when really it looks like a squirrel hat shaven in half. I honestly think they shavin they head because Diddy and Carmelo stressing them out and they losing they hair over it lol. I'm just saying! But anyways the pic that Ms. LaLa posted wasn't as bad as I thought it would look and I must say i am actually pretty impressed because it looks pretty descent on her and in my opinion, probably any hairstyle can look descent on her because she so damn gorgeous!! BUT is it me OR does she look a little bit like Keri Hilson?? IDK...i'm just saying lol....

BACK TOGETHER???

Also last Thursday word was that Mr. Chris Breezy and Princess Rihanna were at Game 4 for the 2009 NBA FINALS between the Lakers and Magic last week TOGETHER BUT Seperately at the same time...if that makes sense? lol Word is that Rihanna, who is rumored to be dating Mr. Best I Ever Had himself aka Drake, was spotted at the game along with some friends just watching the game, sipping some beers and having a good time while Chris did the same. HOPEFULLY he didn't have any beer though because he still underage of the drinking age and i also heard drinking makes you a VERY angry and agressive person sometimes and we KNOW how he can get when he is angry and agressive lol he probably would have courted Rihanna off to the side and gave her round 2 of what she got the night before the Grammy's LOL okay okay I am going to stop, making jokes is not nice! Bad ME!! haha But anyways, word is Rihanna is working swiftly on her return to the music scene but dipping in and out of studios with various producers and Mr. Brown is putting the finishing touches on his upcoming album, Graffiti, which is expecting a fall 2009 release. Good to see them moving on from the pain...

Lastly this week I just wanted to inform those who DIDN'T know that Jay-Z and Mr. Kenneth Edmonds himself aka Babyface, have started new record company's. Jay-Z left Def Jam about a month ago and is building up another empire to distribute more blazing talent from like he did back in the day. Ladies and Gentlemen I give you....Roc Nation!!! CLAP CLAP! I must say I am impressed with Jay-Z's decision to start fresh again because is it me or did it seem like Jay-Z hit a little snag in the road as far as music goes?? He ain't making them albums sound like they did back in his Reasonable Doubt/Dynasty days now is he? And don't ya'll lie and say he is because we ALL know Kingdom Come was undersold, Jay said so himself and American Gangster was underbuzzed. I just want the old Jay back when he was "Big Pimping" and telling those living the "Hard Knock Life" that they could have "Anything" even if they did make a "Song Cry" from their story. I just want that feeling back that I had when I heard "Ain't No Ni**a" featuring Foxy Brown for the first time, don't you? Hopefully this new label can bring back the good old sounds of back in the day. The management for Roc-Nation is going by the name of Star-Roc Management and word is Beyonce will serve as President of A&R and Rihanna and Brandy will be apart of the label as artist as well. I also heard that big time producer, Stargate, will also be apart of the label serving as the head of production and songwriting. Sounds promising BUT I honestly think that if the rumors being A&R are right ALL hell is going to break loose because she is NOT gonna let any cute, danceable, and good singing girls get next to her man Jay. I smell a catfight lol.....

In the other corner we have Mr. Babyface himself and word is the name of his new label, which is being distributed by Def Jam, coincidence?, will be named SodaPopMusic and will have my past Daily Spotlight Artist, Kristinia Debarge, as his first artist. Edmonds wrote and produced many of the songs on her debut album, including the current first single "Goodbye." The singer is scheduled to shoot a video for the track in Los Angeles during the coming weeks. SodaPopMusic is a full-scale label start-up for Babyface, one of his first since LaFace Records (home of Toni Braxton, OutKast, TLC, and Usher). This sounds promising and I look forward to hearing what Babyface has to dish out because when you think about it he did give us some our BEST songs in the 90's by producing and writing them. Hopefully BOTH record labels can pick up off the ground and eventually take off somewhere...

Daily WTF?!?!....

Okay so it's been awhile since I have posted a daily WTF?!?! So I thought I'd let you guys know what has been up and going on in the my WTF?!?! world lol. Umm...lets see....there have been a few WTF?!?! moments that have happend with me lately so I'm gonna pick out the top ones that I think are REALLY worth the shine time and I'll post the rest of them later okie doke??

Okay so Sunday night I come home to just chill and relax. While I'm doing me and just coolin', I get a call from my cousin, her friend, and my ex-friend. Now i know why they called me. Earlier that day I had seen my ex-friend, who i talked about in my Fake Friend post a little while back, he was fake friend #1 but yeah anyways he was chillin at the park with some girl who looked like his ex. To make a long story short they call me up and ask me if I seen him around my neighborhood and if he was with anybody or anything and i told them yeah I think he was with his ex but I am not sure why? And once I ask why this stupid fool, my ex-friend, comes outta nowhere and goes "oh for real though? You lying now?" WTF?!? And THEN when I got loud in the voice with him, he goes "don't get smart with me boy". Boy? haha ok WTF?!?! Hold up Number 1, where did you come from?! And Number 2, who the hell you think you talking to because I dont think its me homie?! So he says to my cousins like "okay, I see where ya'll get ya'll "sources" from with all this now". I'm like oh okay so you think I'm the big mouth who told? Number 1 fool, there are other people who live in my neighborhood that know you and there are MANY that don't like you so WTF?!? And number 2, make sure you got your information right because I ain't that one who told on you. So anyways to make a long story I told him off, he felt stupid, and then TRIED to say sorry lol WTF?!? So the next day in school he looked at me like he had something to say to me, like he wanted to say sorry to me but nah homie! WTF?!? Number 1, You already disrespected me by calling me a liar and yelling at me first and also Number 2, you a fake and a BIG phoney so yeah...WTF?!? Lame people I tell you....

My NEXT story is about my trip to Target and when I was there I was looking at the DVD's rack. Now the DVD aisle is VERY wide and it has ALOT of room and enough room for people to walk in their own lane. Now I am looking at the DVD's and I was VERY close up on the rack looking at what movies they had because I can't see worth a dime because I need to renew my contact prescription, so yeah I was pretty close lol. And while i'm looking at the rack this IGNORANT man walks RIGHT in between me....WTF?!? How they heck don't you see all the other space you could have used to walk by to where you were going? But I guess walking in front of me seemed like the right thing to do huh? Now I wouldn't have minded it but the guy was SO rude about it. Number 1, he walked in front of me without an "Excuse Me Sir" or "I'm Sorry". Number 2, there was no room for him to get by between me and the rack so that meant he had to bump me out my way and he did! WTF?!?! Everytime I think about it i get mad and wanna grab his dumb behind because how in the world can you be an adult and be rude like that? I would have expected that from a teenager or someone younger then me but NOT an "Adult", I expect more...WTF?!? But i guess ignorance comes in different shapes, sizes, colors, and age. Sad sad world we live in I tell ya....

LAST story Is about this girl who likes me. Now this girl was cool and I was feeling her for a bit until she started to playing game, so I decided time was up and I needed to waste the rest of my time on someone better. Now she told me the other week she texted me out the blue and asked me if I wanted a gf and I was like not really, right now I like being free BUT there have been some candidates who might have a chance of winning the race. And she all nosey type and starts asking me Who? Where They Live? What They Look Like?...WTF?!?! Are you my gf? And did I ever commit myself to being your man? Because IF so PLEASE tell ME when? WTF?!? Then she tells me "Don't be leading people on and all because that's bad" THEN turns around and texts me "I got a Bf!" Now how she gone talk about leading people on when she trying to lead me on to thinks he like me but REALLY in actuality is talking to another dude behind my back. So i'm thinking maybe she just joking like she always do and didn't think anything of it. I asked her who? She said my friend. I LOL'd because my friend didn't seem like he would go for someone like her. BUT i come to school the next week to find out that she does go out with my friend...W...T...F?!?! Now I'm thinking like WOW you mean to tell me that you were using me and my friend for the rebound? If he didn't want you, you was gonna come to me? AND if I didn't want you, you was gonna go to him? WTF?!? Nah being played ain't in my list of things i wanna do or have happend before I die and WILL NOT happen now so yeah....she's cut! Like how can some people do that? WTF?!? Don't you think that the other person would finally realize eventually that you ain't nothing but a two-timer?? And to those out there who act like ya'll don't see it I am SMH at you because you deserve better then some one who is a confused mess lost in the sauce who can't make up their minds. OH and THEN the funny part about her is how she be saying that she don't drink BUT says "Oh yeah, I was drunk and out of it the other night"....WTF?!? You aint nothing but a liar so why you keep talking to me like I'm dumb and like I don't see the real you? And then be having the nerve to hit me up on my phone and ask why ain't you talking to me anymore? HAHA get a life and keep it pushing because when i'm done with you "I Want You Back" will be what you are wishing...WTF?!?

*Remember If you have any Daily WTF's just leave me your name, age and message me one at http://www.myspace.com/datboitwane and I will DEFINATELY post it up here for the world to relate to....keep it clean though and if it's not clean PLEASE edit!! :)

Old School Film Daily...

This is a little something, something for the class of 1997. Love Jones was one of the rare yet real love story's that displayed the real sides to love and how it is SO complicating to keep it grounded and fresh. I really LOVE this movie and I get sad because we don't have ANY black love story's like this in today's society and if there are some out there they are ALWAYS straight to video's and they NEVER ever come close to the hipness and happeningness of Love Jones. This film will definately last for ages and will always be a classic for me and i DEFINATELY recommend you to go and rent it at a local Blockbuster or video store and see what happens after love at first sight! And by the way did i add that Nia Long looked SO booty-ful in this movie?? Because she did!!! lol I ESPECIALLY love when she tells Larenz Tate, "Take Your Clothes Off." If I were him I woulda had a heartattack with her asking me that lawd have mercy on my soul lol...

Throwback Daily....

Now this is the first Throwback Song Daily post and I really had to comtemplate and think about which singers brough it strong in the 90's and who had a different sound and ALSO who had some music that could relate to my daily topic The LONG Wait For Love. My top ten contenders were Lauryn Hill, Maxwell, Aaliyah, Brandy, Monica, D'Angelo, Dru Hill, Mary J. Blige, Brian McKnight, or Babyface. I wanted something that made you think when you heard it and something that really set your mind at ease when done hearing it and I DEFINATELY think Erykah Badu did that with "Next Lifetime", at least to me she did. She discusses the rare possibilities of finding some one who you KNOW is your soulmate while you are with your soulmate...strange scenario right?? She SANGS on about how she cannot break up something that isn't broken and how if she can't have the one who admires her from afar this lifetime that she will definately take them up on the offer of love NEXT LIFETIME...indeed a GREAT song and if you haven't turned off my media player when you came on then you TOO will see what i am talking about. I think that you can take this song in many different ways. For example you may know someone who has a Boyfriend or Girlfriend already but at the same time you know you can't hide the feelings you have for that person but you also know that he or she is taken and that he or she is happy so you can not do anything about it but say to yourself hopefully Next Lifetime OR you may know someone who you liked ALOT but didn't take the time to invest in finding out if that person was right for you or not so when the left or moved on you just sat there broken hearted because you saw the possible possibilities but in the end you just said...Next Lifetime. Thats the reason i LOVE this song because you can interpret it in many ways or contexts and that's what makes it sucha good song to think to. And Next Lifetime doesn't always necessarily mean in the after life...it could mean when you get older, when your mind matures and knows what it wants, when life moves onto a new era, etc. This is just a good record period! lol

The LONG Wait For Love (Part 1)...by An'twan

Hey Young World!!! ...Okay so a few days ago i was chillin with my best friends and we were all seating around and talking about life, graduation, and just taking each day like the last and not worrying about side effects that come with life. One side effect that was mentioned was love and we all seemed to have different views on it and of coarse in the end we kind of disargreed to agree but when we agreed it was more so on agreeing to see where the other was coming from but i know that in all our minds we all felt strong about our opinions and were basically like screw what you said because you don't know what you are talking about haha but when I was laying down in the dark listening to my mix of old school music with some old school reps like Maxwell, Erykah Badu, and D'Angelo i started thinking, maybe i see all the sides to what me and my friends were talking about. My one best friend, who we will call the Realist because she always says what is on her mind and keeps it straightfoward without the bullshi*, said that living spontaneously is the way life should be. You should never let the fear or your failures ahead get in the way of the sucess ahead which is the way I felt also because I believe that procrastination effects the nation lol. She also stated that in love you can't press for it and pray on it at the same time, you have to be patient. Like you can't expect God to look for you some one who may be your "soulmate" if your looking also and only finding those who are wearing the disquise of a soumate and in reality are just plain out bad for you and to me I think that is true because I feel that if you pray for a soulmate and say your patient with finding love and falling in it BUT yet you turn around and try and find some one that you think you can fall in love with then I feel your rushing God and not trusting him to come through with what he said he would do because right now he may think that your not ready for love or he just might think that love isn't ready for you so he may postpone and hold it off for a few months or even a few years even until he finds that special some one that he thinks may be fit for us. I think with patience you have to be fearless and confident that at the end of the wait something great will come out in the end. Now my other best friend, who we will call the Analyzer because she knows how to analyze the best of a situation even if it is a bad one, said that she is patient for love and that she is willing to fall in it. She said that even though she isn't worried about love at the moment she would like to have that special some one aside from her friends and family to confide in, that special someone to talk to over the phone for long hours about nothing just because you wanna hear the other persons voice, that special some one who will say i love you over and over again even though they said it a million times before but deep down inside they say it because they really truely mean it....we all want that some one right?? But she also sparked another good question when she stated that even though she is willing to fall in it she isn't willing to let her guard down sometimes when it comes to love because she has been hurt before in her past and has lost SO many things that she is scared the same thing will happen in a relationship. I look at her fears as natural because after so many heartaches from before how many can ones heart take again?? Me and the Realist stated that in life you cannot expect the worst because in reality what's the worst that can happen? At least you can walk away from the situation knowing your answer instead of letting it just slide by you without an answer. Now I am sitting here thinking if love is an option for me and am i actually brave like I thought i was before. I met a girl who I been "trying on" lately and trying to see if she is the right fit. I really like her and all and just the other day after weeks of texting one another we finally moved to the phone which was scary because the phone is like the big step nowadays because texting is how we communicate now which is pretty sad. But yeah we moved to talking on the phone and I we had a first date the other week but nothing special, just a walk around the local flea market. Now she was trying to hold my hand and was saying all sound goods in my ear but i was holding back for some reason and i honestly don't know what it was. I guess since I have never been in actual love before I am clueless on how to be a good boyfriend and how I should act in a relationship so I held back because I don't want to scare her away and i DEFINATELY don't want to mess up our friendship/or relationship. So i am sitting here thinking and ALWAYS questioning myself...Does LOVE really play a big role in our lives?? Does it have enough power to take us from the person we were to the person we become, even if its for the good or bad?? Why do some of us shy away from love although love is really something we want deep down inside?? Why do some of us hide behind the fears of the past instead of facing up to the fear of not being able to know what to do in a relationship?? and WHY does something going wrong always have to be the thought that lingers in our minds at the beginning of a relationship?? OMG yo there are SO many questions to this topic and this is ONLY part ONE to the saga that i will post on about weekly so stay tuned......but UNTIL then please let me know...should love be waited on and let the other greater aspects of life take its place until it comes OR should love be waited on BUT also not forgotten in our minds and us being sightful of what comes our way?? What do YOU think Young World.....???

The Daily Artist Spotlight...

Today's Daily Artist Spotlight is on one of my new favorite underground artist Mateo. Now i found out about Mateo when I was researching another artist and it is sad because i don't even remember what artist it was that i was looking for new music from lol Mateo has such a different feel to his music compared to alot of the music that is out now. It is very laid back and chilled out which makes it perfect for those Saturday mornings when you have to clean up the house or those early weekday mornings when you don't feel like going to work because you are to tired. Mateo is signed to the ever growing Myspace Records but ironically his music is found more on the underground circuit more than the global which i don't understand how so because the man's music is INCREDIBLE! I mean I know he is new but damn! Can't real music get some recogniton in the forefront? But making a long story short, Mateo has a sound that I can definately seeing around for a LONG time and if not him singing it i can definately see him on the producer's chair because aside from his voice his lyrics are tight as well. Mateo at first gave me a bad vibe because his look reminded me exactly of Ryan Leslie's with a mix of sounded exactly like Maxwell on some songs and the way he carried his notes like Maxwell made you scratch your head and ask yourself like is this Maxell's brother I am listening to? But aside from the comparisons to other artist Mateo isn't afraid to push the envelope on music and cover topics and ideas that other artist have not yet. Here's a brief bio on Mateo and his bright future ahead from myspace.com...

When MATEO walks onstage, sits at his piano and starts one of his heartfelt songs it's clear that this is an artist on a mission. It's no coincidence that Mateo lists Lauryn Hill, India.Arie, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, and Robin Thicke as influences but he's also quick to give a nod to alternative acts such as Radiohead, Coldplay, Daft Punk and Kanye West. “Everything is merging together, and I like that in my music; a mixture rather than one flavor only; R&B/Pop/Alternative/Soul—Urban Mod—if you want to pick a new genre."
Mostly recorded in a humble apartment studio in Los Angeles, MATEO’s upcoming album artfully avoids the assembly line of modern pop music by having thoughtful lyricism and sweeping melodies at its core. The first single, “Complicated" is an example of that, with its introspective and honest description an unintended love affair that is now reaching critical mass.
A graduate of the prestigious Morehouse College in Atlanta, with degrees in music and marketing, MATEO almost abandoned plans for a music career for the steady, but soulfully dry world of finance. MATEO explains, “I was on track to do the business thing, interning at American Express, spent time in New York, graduated and got a job at a consulting firm. It was a cushy job, but I hated every minute of it.” Interestingly, while in college, MATEO applied for an intern position at Boston Consulting Group, which oversees business trends. He was interviewed by none other than John Legend, who was also a consultant prior to launching his own career in music. “I didn’t get the internship, but looking back, it was kind of funny that John was also a consultant,” MATEO laughs.
MATEO felt if he wanted to realize his potential, he would have to dive head-first into music. With the decision made, MATEO’s career began to take shape at a rapid pace. He found a studio in Brooklyn, where he scratched out ideas for songs, and then met Jae Staxx, a producer from Philadelphia who was about to leave for Los Angeles to work on rapper/actress Eve’s new television show. Staxx invited MATEO to join him. Seizing the moment, MATEO quit his consulting job and hopped a plane to Los Angeles in 2005. “It was one of those things that this was a chance, an opportunity. I didn’t want to be one of those people that had regrets of woulda, shoulda, coulda…”
Mateo wrote music for “Eve” until mid-2006. A close friend pushed him to go even further with his music. “He said, ‘Yo, you need to do a live show, but I was scared to death of live shows", MATEO explains. “Performing in front of people, I was like, ‘man, what if I suck?” After getting up the nerve, MATEO held his first live show at the trendy Hotel CafĂ© in Hollywood. It went off far better than Mateo could have imagined, and he realized his fears were unfounded. “That was when I got the fever. I was like, Man, this is good; this is fun!” Encouraged, MATEO posted his first song, “Human,” on his MySpace page, which attracted thousands of fans, over 200,000 plays and led to requests for more shows. “The responses from MySpace really brought it home that I should continue; that I’m doing something right.”
An encounter at a show with CSI New York actor Hill Harper led to a meeting with Harper’s friend, former MTV VJ, Quddus Philippe. Philippe is currently an A&R consultant for MySpace Records and was instrumental in signing MATEO to the label in June, 2008. “I came in for a meeting, and I just liked the feeling, the vibe of it better than other labels I had gone to. It felt like they have my back.” MATEO also appreciated the freedom MySpace allowed him to develop, musically. "R&B music has turned more into head-bop music; hip-hop beats over hip-hop loops. I want to bring R&B music back to where people actually have some type of emotion when they listen to my music. I want them to feel that not only is it my story, but their story as well; that they identify with it, and will be able to recall the song ten years from now.”
MATEO is doing what came naturally. His father, Roy Gartrell, played guitar with his mom – MATEO’s grandmother – vocalist Kitty Gartrell. And his grandfather, Freddy Jordan, played guitar on Charles Brown’s classic “Home for Christmas,” but his major claim to fame was being a studio musician at Kings Records where he played for the Godfather of Soul, James Brown.
On his down time, MATEO follows American politics. He sang at several Barack Obama 2008 rallies in Los Angeles and attended the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado. He is also style savvy and can be found playing spur of the moment acoustic showroom shows around Hollywood. He is aware that artists need to be involved in all aspects of there careers. “In this day and age, you can’t be the dumb artist; you’ll get stepped on." MATEO is an artist committed to making art that matters. "Any song can change you either in a positive or a negative way. I just want people to change in a positive, therapeutic way when they listen to my music, whether it be happy or sad songs. All in all, I’m a love song writer, and that’s where I want to go. I’m the new wave of what that is.”

There ya have it from the horses mouth to yours...he is about to be the next flyest thing since Curdoroy lol. For more information on Mateo, updates, and pictures please visit http://www.myspace.com/mateo and find out what a true star looks like...

1 medium onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1 (28-ounce) can crushed fire-roasted tomatoes, liquid included
1 teaspoon finely minced canned chipotle en adobo and sauce, or more to taste
2 teaspoons chopped oregano leaves
1 sprig
fresh rosemary
Salt
1/4 cup torn fresh basil leaves
Meatballs:
Cooking spray
1 pound
ground turkey meat
1 slice fresh whole-wheat
bread, crusts removed, pulsed into crumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan, plus more for serving
1/2 cup finely grated carrot
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
2 large cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley leaves, plus more for garnish
2 teaspoons minced fresh thyme leaves
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 box (16 ounces) whole-wheat
spaghetti
Directions
Fill a large stockpot with water and bring to a boil for pasta.

Make Sauce:
In a 4-quart saucepan heat the oil over medium heat. Saute the onions until translucent, about 3 minutes, then add the garlic and cook for 1 minute more. Add tomato paste, tomatoes, chipotles, oregano, rosemary, and salt. Bring all the ingredients to a low boil, reduce heat and cook for approximately 15 minutes, until liquid has evaporated slightly. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. While sauce is cooking, make meatballs.

Meatballs:
Preheat the broiler. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Combine the turkey with all other ingredients in a large work bowl. Form into 2 1/2 -inch balls and place on a baking sheet. Broil for 10 minutes, or until browned and almost entirely cooked through.

Meanwhile, remove rosemary sprig from sauce and add fresh basil. Add the meatballs to the sauce, cover, and cook additional 10 minutes, or until sauce has slightly thickened and meatballs have absorbed some of the sauce. While the meatballs are cooking, cook the whole-wheat spaghetti according to package directions.
Drain the pasta and return it to the pot. Add the sauce and meatballs, toss and heat through over medium heat. Divide evenly among 4 pasta bowls and garnish with parsley and 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan.

Yield: 6 servings (1 serving equals about 1 1/3 cups pasta and sauce, plus 2 meatballs)

My Mama just made spaghetti's the other night and I must say it was AMAZING so if she can make normal spaghetti's taste like heaven then I bet she can make this recipe taste like space...to infinity and beyond! lol and yes I know i'm greedy....

Lights...Camera...Action!

Hello Young World!! Okay so is it just me or is does 2009 look like the the year of some of the hottest movies?? Like i'm SO anxious to see some of these movies. I just saw Drag Me to Hell this past Friday and by the way I'm still recovering from some of those crazy, scary and abnormal scenes lol. But during Drag Me to Hell's previews there were ALOT of great movies that I see being at the top of the box office during opening weekend....

The first movie is Sorority Row is a remake of the cult classic House on Sorority Hill. Now i'm not a big fan of remakes and I am sure alot of people out there can say the same thing because I feel as though if the movie was already a classic in the past and still good to the present day why mess it up by remaking it with a horrible plot and script for the audience to just fall asleep on? Now it may be hard to believe but this movie is definately not the average movie remake and it definately has potential of being a classic teen thriller just like Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and House On A Hill were and if not classic's then most definately somewhere on the list of favorites. Now the plot to Sorority Row is about 6 sorority sisters who are approaching graduation from college and are make the last of their final days in college before it is time to step out into the real world and live their lives. When one sorority sister named Meagan finds out her boyfriend cheated on her she tells the other sorority sisters and they decide that payback MUST be paid so they feel an old-fashioned classic sorority prank is the best way to make him pay. While having sex with her boyfriend Meagan plays like her boyfriend killed her while doing it which makes him panic and tell her other sorority sisters. Going along with the plan of Meagan "dying" the other 5 sorority sisters tell Meagans's boyfriend that they can not let he death get out among the college so they must bury her quick before some one finds out. So they decide to take Meagans "dead" body to a steal mill yard and dispose it. One of the sorority sisters, which who is in on the joke and knows that the whole situation is a prank, tells Meagans boyfriend that Meagans body needs to be stabbed into pieces to make it look like she was murdered by some one. While the other girls are laughing and "searching" for an objest to stab Meagan with they turn around to find that Meagans boyfriend stabbing her with a crow bar for the fact that he thought he literally killed her. The whole prank turns into a nightmare and the sorority sisters and Meagans boyfriend decide that they need to dispose Meagan's FOR REAL this time and keep the whole prank gone bad a secret for if they told it could ruin all of their lives so they dispose her body in a deep hole at the steal mill factory and leave it there going on with the rest of their college lives. As they go on with their college lives they think everything is okay and unknown until ONE DAY they get a text on the phone with a picture of the crow bar that Meagan's boyfriend used to kill her with. They all feel trouble is around the corner and trouble does ensure for now a mysterious figure in a black hooded robe and hook is after them for what they did.....This movie just gives me chills just writing about it lol and i DEFINATELY will be there to see it opening weekend and to any of The Hills fans, Audrina Patridge will star in the movie as the short-lived and innoncent Meagan. I wonder how her acting is...?? This film actually is ALOT similar to I Know What You Did Last Summer and that is my favorite movie so i'm hoping that this one is just as good but we shall see...

The next movie that looks pretty promising is Orphan. Now this movie I saw the preview for when I saw The Last House On The Left and I must say I was pulled RIGHT into wanting to see the rest of the movie ASAP. I see it's potential at the box-office and hopefully it will do good, but I will say that this movie might make me mad because as you know this is similar to alot of other movies with the plot of an orphan coming into a happy family and causing hell and Lord KNOWS i can't take "problem childs" lol. But overall I am looking forward to it. The plot is about a happily married couple named John and Kate, who lose their baby during pregnancy. John and Kate decide to adopt a 9-year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she claims to be. Kate becomes increasingly alarmed that something evil lurks beneath the girl's sweet facade and tries to convince her family of Esther's evil but will Esther cast her rath before Kate can save her family from hell? Grab your tickets and see....

The last movie is titled Precious. Precious is a film based on the 1996 novel entitled Push by author Saaphire. It is said that Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey have singed onto direct the film and also Mo'nique, Mariah Carey, Paula Patton and Lenny Kravits will have main roles throughout also. The film premiered in January 2009 at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize for best drama, as well as a Special Jury Prize for supporting actress Mo'Nique. The film is about a teenage girl named Precious Jones who has big dreams and hopes to live a better life someday, but her reality in return is more cruel to her then her dreams for she is over-weight, pregnant and lives at home with her abusive mother who is played by Mo'Nique. Precious feels that she has no worth and that she basically deserves nothing in life until the people around her, such as her Guidance Counselor, convince Precious that in order to be happy one has to love oneself deep down inside. I really want to see this movie! When I saw the preview for it when I saw Madea Goes to Jail i was hooked and the trailor to it is VERY sad and if watched, just might bring you to tears because it is THAT powerful and realistic. If you haven't seen the trailer PLEASE go to Youtube.com and type in Precious Movie in the search box to see what i am talking about. I feel that Precious is a film we as American's need today in society for we need to know that love and happiness doesn't come from others but really it comes from deep down within ourselves and I honestly think that is something that has been forgotten today in our nation...we rely too much on what other think and feel that we allow that to overshadow who we really are...TOPIC!...i'm gonna write a blog about this movie and the nature and subject around it BUT in the mean time...go and see the damn movie!! Definately worth the 10 bucks...
*To see these films catch them in theathers on October 2, 2009 (Sorority Row), July 24, 2009 (Orphan), and November 6, 2009 (Precious)
